One of the most amazing aspects of life in northern Minnesota is the occasional opportunity to view the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. Most of the photographs in this album were made within an hour of my home on the North Shore.
One of the photos in this gallery, "Hearts over the Cemetery," was featured as one of thirty-one winners of a photo contest judged by National Geographic photographer Jim Brandenburg. The theme of the contest was "The View from Flyover Country," and winning photos were on exhibit at the Minneapolis Photo Center.
