Some of the North Shore's most recognizable flowers are actually invasive species. The lupine is considered a signature North Shore flower that blooms along many roadsides in the spring, usually in mid-June. However, it's not native.
On the other hand, the Showy Lady Slipper, Minnesota's state flower, is far more elusive. If one knows where to look, however, this flower can be found. Jay Cooke State Park is a prime location for this flower, and most of the lady slipper photos in this album were made in the park.
